Synopsis:
Harry Fertig, an accountant for a major corporation, kills three people he feels were responsible for the death of his 5-year-old son who was stricken with appendicitis and refused treatment in a hospital emergency room. Jack Grenoble, the CEO of the corporation, hires hot-shot defense lawyer Roy Bleakie to plead Fertig not guilty by reason of insanity; but Fertig refuses, and wants to assume responsibility for his actions. Despite the promise of a promotion to district attorney, Bleakie begins to to question his principles when he learns that Grenoble wants Fertig declared insane so that nothing he may say later about the illegal activities of the corporation will ever be credible in a police investigation or a court of law.
