Synopsis:
A four-part series, set in Boston in the mid-1600s, that tells the passionate story of Hester Prynne, a seamstress who, convicted of adultery, must wear a scarlet letter "A" displayed prominently on the front of her dress, marking her as an adultress and consigning her to lifelong shame. The tale, based on Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1850 novel, relates the stories of the Reverend Arthur Dimsdale, the man who shared Hester's sin but did not publicly confess, and Roger Chillingsworth, Hester's husband, who seeks to learn the identity of the man who cuckolded him and gain revenge.
