Synopsis:
A live series, broadcast from comedy clubs throughout the United States, showcasing young stand-up comics. Each week, a different comedian hosts the show accompanied by several other comics and a special musical guest.

Debuted in July 1988 as a local Los Angeles show on Fox-owned KTTV before being picked up in October 1988 by the other six Fox owned-and-operated stations. The series premiered on the entire Fox Broadcasting Company network in August 1989.

Name of series changed to "Comic Strip Live Primetime" with introduction of "Comic Strip Live: Late Night" on December 1, 1990.

Starting April 21, 1991, Jeff Altman became the regular series host and the name of program was changed to "The Sunday Comics."
