Synopsis:
A 13-part series which features the tradition of modern American poetry. The program focuses on the poems, rather that the biographies, of American poets Robert Frost, Ezra Pound, Langston Hughes, Walt Whitman, Hart Crane, William Carlos Williams, Emily Dickinson, Marianne Moore, T.S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell and Sylvia Plath. Included are documentary, dramatic, and experimental film techniques, offering visual re-creations of the poems and interviews.
