Glen Campbell and Carrie Underwood receive special ACM Awards

Glen Campbell and Carrie Underwood have been named recipients of early special honours ahead of the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday (03Apr16).
The ailing Rhinestone Cowboy star, who is battling memory-robbing Alzheimer’s disease, will be honoured with the Career Achievement Award in recognition of artists who have advanced the popularity and acceptance of country music.
Underwood is set to receive the inaugural ACM Lifting Lives Gary Haber Award, which honours a country artist or music industry professional for their constant philanthropic efforts.
Meanwhile, Little Big Town will be given the Crystal Milestone Award for their hit single Girl Crush, and Crystal Gayle, Tanya Tucker and the Statler Brothers have been named the recipients of the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award.
All the honourees will be feted during the 10th Annual ACM Honors event this autumn (16) at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium.
The winners of the main categories will be announced during the live ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday. The prizegiving will be co-hosted by singers Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, while Katy Perry and Dolly Parton, Nick Jonas and Kelsea Ballerini, and Miranda Lambert, ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Keith Urban will all perform collaborative sets.
