A Crime of Passion
Alissa Pierce is struggling through her first year of medical school while caring for her teenage sister, Natalie, and her recently widowed father, Ben, a wealthy physician. One night, Ben meets cocktail waitress Marcy Elias, a sexy, streetwise woman. Ben begins to date Marcy and, within weeks, asks her to marry him. Marcy quickly wins the heart of Natalie, but Alissa, feeling betrayed, disapproves of Marcy. Soon after the wedding, the marriage begins to unravel. Insecure about her place in Ben's affluent world, Marcy runs into Eddie Meredith, an employee at the Pierces' country club, and gives in to his sexual advances. When Ben finds out, he begins divorce proceedings. Marcy seeks revenge and seduces Ben's life insurance provider into making her the sole beneficiary of Ben's million dollar policy. The next evening, Alissa finds her father shot to death. Natalie betrays her sister and tells Marcy that Alissa suspects Marcy of the crime. Marcy, in turn, tries to make Alissa the key suspect.
