Abdul to be offered ‘Dance’ role?

Abdul’s future on the singing competition was thrown into doubt last week (19Jul09) when her manager, David Sonenberg, told the Los Angeles Times that “it does not appear” that she will be returning to Idol in 2010.

But now she could be set for a move over to the rival dance show, after the programme’s judge Nigel Lythgoe revealed he would consider her for a role “without a question”.

Lythgoe, who created the dance talent show in 2005, used to be a producer on American Idol, while Abdul has worked as a successful choreographer.

Discussions have come to a halt between Abdul and TV executives as she bids to return to her spot alongside fellow judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and last year’s (08) newcomer Kara DioGuardi.

New reports claim the reason behind Abdul’s delayed contract renewal is because she is demanding $20 million (£13.3 million) – $10 million (£6.6 million) more than bosses are willing to offer her.
