Arctic Tomb | 2001
In May 1845, two British ships with 129 men led by Sir John Franklin set sail toward the Arctic in search of the fabled Northwest Passage to India. Two months later, they disappeared. Over the next three decades, forty expeditions scoured the frigid Arctic looking for the lost sailors. The program retraces the doomed route, explores the remote sites where the sailors fought a futile battle for survival, and pieces together what may have gone wrong.
