Synopsis

Adapted from Armistead Maupin's second novel about the lives of the residents of 28 Barbary Lane, an apartment house in San Francisco. Set in 1977, Mary Ann Singleton and Michael Tolliver go on a Mexican cruise in search of romance, much to the dismay of Michael's roommate, Mona Ramsey. Mary Ann meets and falls in love with a man who suffers from amnesia and has absolutely no memory of the three-year period during which he lived in San Francisco. Michael meets his former lover at a gay bar in Acapulco and is tormented by a paralyzing disease. Recently fired from her copywriting job, feeling abandoned by Michael and Mary Ann, and completely irritated by her overbearing mother, Mona heads for Nevada, where she inadvertently digs up Mrs. Madrigal's past.
