Synopsis

When Walter Nebicher, head of the computer section of the Los Angeles Police Department, is denied the opportunity to fight crime on the streets and relegated to an office, he begins solving crimes by computer. Walter, who is fascinated with crime solving, begins designing a video game called "Automan." He programs its character with the knowledge of sleuthing from Sherlock Holmes to James Bond.

What results, however, is a three-dimensional holographic image that appears on his computer screen and materializes as Automan, an automatic man who can do anything. The force for good created by Walter is accompained by Cursor, a glowing hexagon that chases beautiful women--and creates anything that Automan requests. The series depicts a battle against crime as undertaken by Officer Walter Nebicher and his holographic assistant, Automan.
