Barrington De La Roche guilty of pension scam

Actor Barrington De La Roche has been convicted of pocketing pension money and welfare payments while working in the entertainment industry. The 70 year old, who appears opposite Johnny Depp in new movie London Fields, pleaded guilty after he was accused of failing to notify Britain’s Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) of a change in circumstance.
Prosecutors claimed De La Roche, from Wandsworth, south London, had taken welfare money from the state while working as an actor.
During a hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court in London on Monday (20Oct14), District Judge James Henderson conditionally discharged De La Roche for eighteen months and ordered him to pay $136 (£85) costs and a $24 (£15) victim surcharge.
He is repaying a debt of more than $12,000 (£7,500) to the DWP.
