After months of speculation, fanboys and cinephiles can rest assured that Christopher Nolan will follow up his super secretive sci-fi extravaganza Inception with the highly anticipated third film in his Batman series. The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog confirmed today that Batman 3 will hit theaters on July 20th 2012.
Though the studio has barely begun the process of developing the movie (as Nolan is still in post-production on Inception), the director is hammering out a story with co-writer David Goyer. There is no title or start date at this point.
The news should send shockwaves throughout the film community as many are excited to see whether or not Nolan and co. can outdo themselves again after the stunning critical and commercial success of The Dark Knight. Will they be able to re-live the grandure of the 2008 blockbuster without Heath Ledger’s Joker? Only time will tell…
