Beach Watch: Newport Lifeguards | 2000
The stretch of coast that covers Ventura County, Los Angeles County and Orange County is one of the most popular beach destinations in the world. Nearly three million people flock to these beaches during the summer holiday weekends. Keeping watch are a group of men and women -- the Southern California Lifeguards -- who rescue more than 30,000 people each year. The program reveals the intense physical training endured by the lifeguards and also examines the equipment and techniques used for rescues.
