‘Breaking Bad,’ Breaking Ratings

ALTWhile waiting for the final eight episodes of the series-ending season five, know this: you are not alone. This year’s midseason finale for AMC darling and favorite of meth-television-watchers everywhere, Breaking Bad was huge. Both in terms of “Oh s**t!” moments and in the ratings game.

In fact, the episode received a very respectable 2.8 million viewers, which is up 47 percent from last season’s finale. But that’s not all! Fans of the show have increase overall, as well, averaging 56 percent more viewers for this summer’s episodes compared to the first half of last year’s season.

According to the folks at EW, spirits are high at the network about the ratings news: “Congratulations to everyone involved in Sunday’s great success and for delivering episode after episode of television that is nothing short of remarkable,” said Charlie Collier, President of AMC. “That Breaking Bad continues to deliver at such a remarkable level creatively, now over 50 episodes later, is a rare accomplishment … We can’t wait to share the final eight episodes with our audience.”
