Breakthrough in delivering movies to PCs?

An Australian film company, Media World Broadcasting Ltd., has demonstrated a technology to deliver high-quality, full-screen video to personal computers in real time over ordinary phone lines with a simple 28K modem, the British Web site Screen Daily reported today (Thursday). According to the Web site, operated by the weekly trade publication Screen International, the demonstration was monitored by the Australian unit of the international accounting firm Deloitte & Touche, which confirmed that no tricks were used. The trade paper commented that the system “undermines the need for broadband.” MWB CEO John Tatoulis told Screen Daily, “We would not be in this if we were not 110 percent sure that the technology works…. We now have the opportunity to revolutionize the distribution and entertainment industry.”
