God may have (allegedly) created the world in seven days, but it only took a week for the X Factor to deliver a not so unpredictable – and final! – double elimination night this season. After pulling off the best resurrection since J.C., hanging on by a thread for weeks CeCe Frey was sent packing. (Simon Cowell had his assistant pack her things as soon as her name was announced. We kid, we kid!) Having lost her final contestant, mentor Demi Lovato waterworks were working overtime, needing a slight touchup during commercial break. (Nick Jonas was there to comfort her, so don’t feel too sorry for her!) Simon may have begun to shake in his little knickers when Fifth Harmony had to go mano-a-mano with Britney Spears’ other teen protégé Diamond White. She may have won the sing-off last week, but mini-Whitney didn’t live to die another day. Khloe Kardashian and Mario Lopez announced the top 4 – which only had Carly Rose Sonenclar internally yelling, “OMFG”:

3. Emblem3
4. Fifth Harmony
Ending the 13-year-old phenom’s reign at number one was the all-American guy who makes everyone love a little something called country music, Tate Stevens, followed by the lady-killer trio, Emblem3, and Fifth Harmony at the bottom hanging on for dear life. Hollywood.com chit-chatted with the judges – Britney Spears and Simon Cowell – and tonight’s performer (she cashed in her $5 million check last season), Melanie Amaro, who had plenty of insight on the final contestants, record deals, and a reality show just to name a few.
Britney Spears, on seeing herself in Carly:
Britney: The way she is kind of shy, and then she gets on stage – it’s just like, this insane voice. When I was younger, she reminds me a lot of me.
On what makes Carly an ideal singer:
Britney: Her personality, she’s so cool. Like Simon said the other night, she just has this demeanor that she just gets it, and she understands the business. And that’s what you also need on top of being talented. I think that’s her best quality.
On her favorite song of the year:
Britney: Anything by Adele is my favorite song. I love her.
Simon Cowell, on Demi’s final elimination frustration:
Simon: She knew that she was about to be left with no one, and it did get a bit bitchy and unpleasant. And I’ve got to look after my artists. Luckily they didn’t listen to her.
On Emblem3 having their own music style post-record contract:
Simon: If they get the recording contract, which I think is going to happen, the first time we heard them they sang one of their own songs and it was really, really good, so it’ll sound very different to One Direction.
On pitching CeCe the idea of her own reality show:
Simon: Everyone knows her name now. I said tonight she should do a reality show. Didn’t go down well…didn’t go down particularly well. “I’m a singer!” You can do both.
On Nick Jonas hanging out with Demi during commercial break:
Simon: I don’t know what they were up to!
Khloe Kardashian, on the judges being more upfront:
Khloe: Demi made a good point yesterday, she’s right. We are now down to the final four and it is a $5 million contract on the line. You have to be vicious because that is a huge prize they are winning and she is right, you can’t just say, “yeah, you were great.” don’t sugarcoat everything. It is down to the needy gritty. And that’s true.
On the judges doing a 180 when they’re not on the panel:
Khloe: They are so nice backstage. Everyone is so calm and peaceful. And then the gloves are on once they are sitting at that desk. I want to be sitting in between them and be like, “Okay guys, let’s have a chat, and just make it happy. “
On her double-duty as a basketball wife:
Khloe: Pretty much every Wednesday he has a Clippers game, or he might be on the road or something. But typically every Wednesday there’s a game, and I run down there. It’s fun. I love it.
Melanie Amaro, on performing as a musical guest:
Melanie: Oh, my God. I had nerves. I don’t know if you noticed. It’s like, “Oh, my God, Simon is watching me.” But what was good was the fact that I didn’t have to sing, and then get criticized. So, I feel bad for the contestants.
On her $5 million dollar recording contract:
Melanie: It gave me a new start. It boosted my career. It helped me to financially help my mom. I got her that house. She cried like a baby. She was dramatic, and, “Oh, my God!”
