Brooklyn Bridge | 1999
Documentary about the Brooklyn Bridge, the brainchild of German immigrant John Roebling who was convinced that steel cables could hold up a huge suspension bridge. Working on the bridge took Roebling's life and nearly cost the life of his son, Washington. However, fighting corrupt politicians, illness and treachery, Washington Roebling carried his father's torch and completed the bridge in 1883. The program also explores the mysterious disease that affected hundreds of men laying the foundation for the bridges towers.
