Bruno Mars’ Carpool Karaoke is pure 24k magic. Don’t believe us? Just watch!
James Corden and Mars seem like an unlikely duo, but there’s definite chemistry. All Corden needs are a couple of Bruno-approved dance moves, and what a better way to get him there than learning from the master himself.
“You just gotta let the shoulders do the talking,” says Mars.
“I feel like this would not arouse a woman,” says Corden.
In the first bit of the episode, Mars is dressed in a full-on silk outfit that Corden admits he wishes he could pull off (spoiler: he tries it on later in the skit and totally does). Corden also comes to the incredible realization that Mars can literally pull off any kind of hat — seriously, any kind. It’s actually kind of magical.
Perhaps the most amazing thing we learn about Mars from this episode is that he’s no diva. His backstage rider includes only a couple of items — booze, water and wet wipes.
“That’s the next album,” Mars admits. “Yeah, wine and wet wipes.”
“Pop the cork and wipe down. Pop the cork and wipe down.” Corden sings to the tune of “Uptown Funk.”
Mars and Corden sing through most of Bruno’s biggest hits (which is kind of a feat considering he has so many). They breeze by a couple of tracks from his new album 24K Magic and cover some old favorites like “Grenade” and “Locked Out Of Heaven.” We’d be remiss to not mention their insanely perfect rendition of “Uptown Funk.”
In the final bit James admits, “I’ve never felt more alive.” That’s kind of the vibe the whole episode gives off. It is Bruno Mars, after all.
