Brooke Shields’ alleged stalker blasts actress for ‘perjury’

A man charged with stalking Brooke Shields has accused the model-turned-actress of lying about his alleged harassment.
The Blue Lagoon star reported John Rinaldi to New York police a year ago (15), claiming he had left her strange notes, scared her children, and posted nasty comments about her co-workers on social media.
Rinaldi was subsequently charged with stalking and harassment, and he returned to Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday (02May16), when he maintained his innocence.
The suspect insists he was simply contacting Shields in regards to a possible donation for his charitable organisation, called The Sandy Hook Kids Center, but she mistook his efforts to reach out as harassment.
During the court hearing, Rinaldi embarked on a rant aimed at Shields, blasting her for reportedly committing perjury for making up multiple encounters between the pair.
“Brooke committed a crime,” he told the judge. “She knowingly filed perjury. I never bothered her. The complaints that Brooke wrote, they’re all wrong.”
In the alleged incidents listed on the police report Shields claimed Rinaldi camped outside her West Village home, blocks away from his own residence, followed her into a local Starbucks coffee shop, and attempted to talk to her kids while they were out and about.
Rinaldi, 48, also called out his own lawyer, Daniel Stern, claiming he was not doing enough to defend him, and requested permission to have him replaced.
“He’s not supposed to impose his views,” Rinaldi moaned. “He said, ‘You’re guilty, you’re going to go to jail’. He wouldn’t do anything.”
Rinaldi’s motion for a new lawyer was approved, and the judge set the next court hearing for 20 May (16), reports the New York Daily News.
