Cast Of ‘The Conners’ On Moving On Without Roseanne

Actors leave shows constantly.

Sometimes they move on to bigger things, other times the show wants to go in a different route. It can be hard to do, especially if it’s the star of the show and even more so if her name is the title of the show. After Roseanne’s now-infamous racist tweet, the show, which was a hit for ABC, was in question. Days before the upfront presentation in June, the show was canceled. Fast forward, and the network would decide they would bring it back without the star character.

There was one question on everyone’s mind; how would they take her off the show? Would she go back to her home planet, would she have been a dream (like they did to Dan), or what? Spoiler if you haven’t seen the first episode, they kill her off. She was addicted to opioids and that is what did her in. Fitting, considering she blamed the racist tweet on drugs. Now, its time for the biggest question to be answered; what’s next?

That is a question that is asked by any family who loses the person that holds it all together, and something the stars think needs to be addressed. In the above interview John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, and Alicia Goranson tell us why they think people tuned in the first place, and more importantly, why they think they can keep this going.

‘The Conners’ airs Tuesdays on ABC.
