Casting Roundup: Paul Rudd Stops By ‘Parks & Rec,’ ‘New Girl’ Gets a New Guy

Dermot MulroneyMaybe you just had a new baby. Maybe you just won the lotto. It doesn’t matter. THIS will still be the greatest news you have heard in years: the impossibly fantastic Parks and Recreation has finally cast a political opponent for Amy Poehler’s public office hopeful, Leslie Knope. Now, you might think the show would vie for someone despicable to play the villain against the delightful Leslie. Au contraire—what we have in store is a face-off in sheer likeability. For, in the portrayal of Leslie’s opponent, NBC is bringing in the one and only Paul Rudd. Vulture reports that Rudd has been cast and has already shot his scenes, marking television history in the making. No one could make me get off my Knope ’12 bandwagon, except maybe Paul Rudd. Parks and Rec returns to NBC this Thursday, Jan. 12 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT. –Vulture
