J.J. Abrams — yes, the guy behind Lost and Star Trek — is teaming up with Jonathan Nolan — yes, the guy who’s Chris Nolan‘s brother and co-wrote The Dark Knight — to form what’s no doubt going to be an awesome new television series on CBS called Person of Interest. According to Variety, the drama will focus on “a CIA paramilitary officer, presumed dead, who is recruited to work on a secret project for a reclusive billionaire.”
Now that’s not much information to go off of, but regardless, doesn’t it sound sweet? We have J.J. Abrams, who proved that he’s pretty much the master of cliffhangers with Lost (despite fumbling the finale — yes, I said it, but we won’t get into that right now) combined with the Oscar-nominated mind of Jonathan Nolan, who helped his brother Chris re-invent Batman with The Dark Knight. But the best part of all of this? It’s a concept for network television, not a movie or HBO or cable. Network television.
In other TV news — albeit, not as exciting as J.J. Abrams and Jon Nolan teaming up (seriously, can you tell we’re pumped?) — Fox just ordered a pilot for Weekends at Bellevue, a medical drama based on the book by Dr. Julie Holland. The show was written by Lisa Zwerling and centers on a doctor in the emergency psych ward of New York’s Bellevue Hospital.
Anyway, considering a lot of us are still mourning the loss of Friday Night Lights last night, this positive TV news might make one feel better. Well, a little better. A little. Sniff.
