The Big Bang Theory seems to have a pretty heavy stake in mommy issues. We’ve met the mothers of both Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), and neither has held back on the instilling of grief in her son. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be sticking around. Leonard’s mother, played by Christine Baranski, will return this season in a guest spot.
Baranski has appeared twice before as Dr. Beverly Hofstadter, who, not unlike her son, is incredibly intelligent and overly analytical (much to his chagrin). The actress will reappear this coming season, likely with more unwitting pain to impart on Leonard.
CBS’s relationship with Baranski is not limited to guest spots on The Big Bang Theory. She will also be returning as Diane Lockhart in the third season of The Good Wife.
The Big Bang Theory’s fifth season will premiere Thursday, September 22, and The Good Wife’s third season will premiere Sunday, September 25. If that’s not enough Baranski for you, there are always Cybill reruns.
