Christmas in Rockefeller Center

Christmas in Rockefeller Center airs Wednesday at 8/7c on NBC.

Let’s all say it in unison: ‘WOW, this year sure did fly by!’

If it hasn’t hit you already, tonight marks the beginning of 2006’s end with NBC’s broadcast of the annual lighting of the Tree, live from New York City’s Rockefeller Center; trivia-heads note: it’s the 74th annual lighting. Wearing more lights than you can shake a stick at, this year’s Norway spruce comes from Ridgefield, Connecticut, and stands tall at around 88 feet high. It will also don a 550-pound, custom designed, Swarovski crystal star.

Sharing the spotlight with the mammoth Tree will be hosts Al Roker and Ann Curry, and performers Christina Aguilera, Taylor Hicks, Sting, Enya, John Legend, Martina McBride, and Lionel Richie, all taking a shot at belting out those good old holiday-inspired classics.
