Christoph Waltz To Host ‘SNL’ — That’s A Bingo!

ALTThe weekend before the Academy Awards most nominees will be making final alterations to their outfits and making the rounds on the Hollywood schmoozing circuit. Christoph Waltz will be hosting Saturday Night Live for the first time. The Oscar-winner, who is up for Best Supporting Actor again this year for his work in Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained, will be at the helm of the February 16 episode with equally awesome musical guests Alabama Shakes. (The appearance of the Grammy-nominated band should just about the cleanse the palate of any music purist who endures Justin Bieber‘s Feb. 9 episode.)

While the 56-year-old star sometimes has an awkward live stage presence (as brilliant an actor as he is, he’s not the best at acceptance speeches or red carpets) he most certainly knows how to play darkly funny (see: Inglorious Basterds) and has proved that he can handle very funny taped sketches on late night television (see: his visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live!).

If anything, the wonderfully weird Waltz (maybe he has the potentially to be the next Christopher Walken on the creepy/cool forefront) could be a much-needed shot of adrenaline to the current season of SNL, which has been in a lull. Plus, the unconventionally handsome host will be hosting the Valentine’s Day ep. That’s a bingo, alright.
