CSI: Cyber cancellation ends franchise

Bosses at America’s CBS network have cancelled CSI: Cyber, ending the franchise’s 16-year run of shows.
The last remaining spin-off of the popular procedural drama, starring Patricia Arquette, Ted Danson, and James Van Der Beek, will not return for a second season.
CSI: Cyber was the third spin-off from the flagship show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which premiered in 2000. The series starred William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger and was once the most-watched show in the world. It came to an end last year (15).
The original CSI also spawned CSI: Miami, which ended in 2012 after 10 seasons, and CSI: NY, which concluded its nine-season run in 2013.
Danson, who starred in both Cyber and the final seasons of the original CSI, has already lined up a new gig – he and Kristen Bell will star in a new comedy called The Good Place, which was picked by executives at the NBC network. The programme from Parks and Recreation creator Michael Schur features Danson as a mentor to Bell in the afterlife.
