Dalziel & Pascoe: Bones and Silence | 1999
Detective Inspector Dalziel sees the silhouette of a woman framed in the window of a neighbor's house. Into the frame comes a man pointing a gun. The man and woman struggle. Dalziel rushes across the road and finds a dead woman and two men. Philip Swain has the gun, Greg Waterson is hysterical and Mrs. Gail Swain is dead. Swain claims he called at Waterson's house to discuss some business. He thought his wife was in America visiting family but he found her in his colleague's bedroom. He confronted her and she killed herself. As this contradicts what Dalziel has seen, he arrests Swain on suspicion of murder. But this "open and shut" case is anything but that. It's a tale of infidelity, greed, drugs and threatening notes of suicide. When Dalziel agrees to play God in a community theater production, he is intrigued to find that his murder suspect, Swain, is playing Lucifer.
