After his enthusiasm for the show and his partner, Kym Johnson, compelled viewers to vote for him for six weeks, David Arquette was sent home last night on Dancing with the Stars. It seemed to come as a shock to everyone in the audience — and even to David and Kym — that the couple at the bottom of the leader board after Monday night’s performances (Tristan and Nancy Grace) made it through to the next week. Once Brooke Burke and Tom Bergeron called him down onto the stage for a chat, David said “This has to be a mistake! This is my show! I love all the people I got to know and dance with. This whole production is top-notch, and thank you to all the fans!”
Interestingly enough, The Hollywood Reporter ran an interview with David yesterday — before he was eliminated from the show — where he and his partner acknowledged the possibility that they would be going home. David said, “I set out to entertain people, learn more about myself, challenge myself, get in shape, have fun and learn how to dance. I’ve done all that…Everything hurts. My knees hurt. My ankle hurts. My ribs hurt. I pulled my breast muscle. I mean, how do you do that?”
