‘Desperate Housewives’ 2011-2012 Season Will Be Its Last

Desperate HousewivesDesperate Housewives, a show that seems like it has been on forever, and didn’t seem like it would or could terminate, even with the downfall of Western civilization, or the rise of a lethal pandemic, has announced that its eighth season will in fact be its last.

The series was actually expected to continue through 2013; cast members Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria all expressed surprise and sorrow to find out that the 2011-2012 season will be their final one.

Personally, I’m a bit unnerved. If Desperate Housewives is no longer, then what else can I count on as a constant? Death and taxes didn’t hold a candle to Marc Cherry’s ABC phenomenon. I don’t really know what to believe in anymore; all tenets of my reality have been skewered.

I think this is, as all things seem to be, a sign of the imminent end. It’s rattling; the sentiments it inspires are nothing too settling. In this new generation, I expect to feel lost. Perplexed. Dire. And. dare I say, desperate.
