Dinah Jane considering solo future after Leona Lewis collaboration

Dinah Jane has hinted she might be the next Fifth Harmony star to go solo after revealing her Christmas collaboration with Leona Lewis reawakened her dreams to go it alone.
Camila Cabello stunned the girl group at the end of 2016 when she announced she was leaving, before going on to enjoy a string of solo pop successes, and now her former bandmate is toying with the idea of breaking away from Fifth Harmony too.
The 20-year-old admits working with Leona on last year’s (17) Christmas Medley gave her the courage she needed to seriously consider a solo start.
“I have not stood on my own in a while,” she tells Flaunt magazine. “Singing with Leona was such an experience because I grew up listening to her music. When I was 11 I posted my first YouTube cover to one of her songs. Performing with her just makes me so excited for what’s to come.”
“My collaboration with Leona sparked something in me that I haven’t felt in a while,” Dina adds. “It sparked more creativity and passion in me. I feel like there’s something in me that desires to express myself even more and not be so afraid of a solo endeavour.”
And the singer admits she is considering what type of music she’ll make if she was to go solo: “I never thought in a million years I would be in a girl group, so I can’t look too deep into the future,” she adds, “but I am revisiting childhood favourites from genre, like reggae. I’m excited to see if I’ll use these sounds in my own music.”
