Discharged Without Honor: The Brownsville Raid | 1999
Just before midnight on August 13, 1906, unknown men stormed through the streets of Brownsville, Texas, killing a man and injuring another. Soldiers of the all-black 1st battalion stationed at nearby Fort Brown were blamed for the raid and discharged without a trial. The program reveals the true story of the incident, the efforts of a U.S. Senator who would eventually sacrifice his political career in search of the truth, and how the incident pitted two of the early 20th century's greatest African-American leaders against each other.
