‘Twill be a very elegant winter, it will it will. PBS has announced, via The Hollywood Reporter, that their most charmingly droll family, the Crawleys, will be making their way back into our appetites come the new year. The network will be kicking off a fourth season of its highest rated program, Downton Abbey, on January 5, allowing us to begin 2014 with a healthy dose of 1922. However the show premieres on its British home, ITV, on November 23. Now it would be quite rude to go and illegally download the show before it hits our shores, but we know some diehards will surely get the jump on PBS thanks to thier wretched delay.
The critically and culturally acclaimed drama, a pithy soap opera of sorts about the aristocratic denizens of World War I-era England, will reunite with American audiences in January, extending its fourth season through Feb. 23. And for those who think a month and a half of Downton is just a tease after the hiatus we’ve endured following Season 3, we might have many, many years left to look forward to. So, you can hang your bowler derby on that.
