Edison sides with the boy and takes him on as his apprentice, providng the youngster "quality time" with an adult for the first time in his life. Jack goes on to participate in the creation of the first motion pictures with Edison's kinetoscope. However, Edison's workaholic perfectionism has come at the expense of his family life.
