Emmys 2012: ‘Modern Family’ Wins Outstanding Comedy, Costars Dominate

ALTNo surprise here: the big winner in the comedy categories once again… is Modern Family.

The ABC sitcom continues its winning streak, taking home its third Outstanding Comedy of the Year award in its third year of existence.

Continuing the trend of return winners, Outstanding Actor in a Comedy series went to Jon Cryer for the rebooted ninth season of Two and a Half Men, his second win of seven nominations. Outstanding Actress in a Comedy went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the first season of her new HBO show Veep. Officially putting the kibosh on the Seinfeld curse, Louis-Dreyfus earns her third win after 13 previous nominations.

Eric Stonestreet won his second Supporting Actor Emmy for Modern Family, following his win in 2010, while Julie Bowen picked up her second Supporting Actress Emmy.

The criminally under-appreciated Louis C.K. picked up his first Emmy win for writing on his show Louie. Steve Levitan, multi-nominee for Modern Family, won for his directing prowess for the show’s third season finale.
