Synopsis

Bette Davis is a New England schoolteacher, put out to pasture after 50 years of dedicated service, who sets out to rediscover her family -- large enough to keep a soap opera going for years -- only to discover that the town that bears the family name and her home for her lifetime is threatened with extinction by certain members of the clan who are in cahoots with a land developer. Davis' real-life grandson, J. Ashley Hyman, made his acting debut in this four-hour drama as the young neighbor boy she takes on her extended trip.
