The first season of Game of Thrones was way more popular than anyone expected—thus, any new actors would be wise to hitch his wagon to a role in the upcoming second season, if the opportunity was kind enough to present itself. For British actress Gwendoline Christie, the coveted role of Brienne might be what jump-starts a long career. Reportedly, she killed it at the audition, so here’s wishing good luck to the aspiring performer.
Brienne will be no easy character to play: she’ll prove to be an adept swordswoman with knightly ambitions and a pledge of service to Renly Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert. The character is a fan favorite among those who read the Game of Thrones books, but that doesn’t always translate to the small screen.
Production of the second season of Game of Thrones begins at the end of July. Others speculated to be joining the cast include Natalie Dormer and Christopher Eccleston.
