The two-minute trailer shows a group of New York City high school students welcoming the ‘new girl’ into their social circle. The new series seems very similar to the original, with the addition of heavy social media use to match our modern society.

Viewers can expect to be taken through the intense ups and downs of being a teen at one of the most elite schools in Manhattan. With the original Gossip Girl being so iconic and loved by millennials and members of Gen Z alike, this reboot has a lot to live up to!

What we know about the Gossip Girl reboot

Gossip Girl will begin streaming on HBO Max starting July 8. The only actor confirmed to reprise their character is Kristen Bell, who voices Gossip Girl and narrates the show. Emily Alyn Lind, Whitney Peak, Jordan Alexander, and Thomas Doherty will also star in the series.

When talking to Jimmy Fallon about the reboot Wednesday night, Kristen Bell said, “The new show is really cool cause it talks all about how social media has changed us and it’s more risqué cause it’s on HBO Max. There’s a twist at the end of episode one that’s really different.”

When the news first broke about the reboot in 2019, Deadline reported that there would be 10 episodes, each an hour long. Original Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, Joshua Safran, and Leslie Morgenstein are all credited on the project.
