Scott Speer in rehab, pleads not guilty to felony charges

Director Scott Speer has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility to combat addiction issues which reportedly led to his domestic dispute last month (Apr19).
The Step Up Revolution filmmaker is facing five felony charges of domestic violence, arson, child abuse, criminal threats, and resisting arrest after clashing with his wife, Michelle McLaughlin, at their home in San Fernando Valley, California.
During the heated argument, Speer was accused of setting fire to a broom with the “intention of lighting up the whole house,” although firefighters who had been called to the scene were able to extinguish the flames, as the 36 year old was taken into custody.
An arraignment hearing regarding the case was held on Friday (17May19), when his lawyer, Shawn Holley, entered a not guilty plea for her client, and revealed he is currently working on his personal troubles at a facility in Utah.
“Scott is doing everything in his power to address the issues which led to this incident,” Holley told TMZ.
She claims Speer, who is free on $250,000 (£192,000) bond, has so far been sober for 29 days.
If convicted of the arson charge alone, Speer, who has directed music videos for the likes of Blake Shelton, Jason Derulo and Paris Hilton, faces up to eight years behind bars.
