Synopsis

Documentary that explores the sociopolitical climate surrounding the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. The program explores the zeitgeist and happenings of the day, including the call by African-American activist professor Harry Edwards for a boycott by the U.S. Olympic team to change the perception that the black athlete's role was to shut up and play the game. Although the boycott never materialized, the American athletes arrived in Mexico City amidst a storm of political and social unrest.
