Flags Fly Half-Mast for Steve Irwin

Late naturalist Steve Irwin has been honored in the Australian city of Sydney as flags flew at half-mast on the famous Harbour Bridge.

The tribute also remembered racing legend Peter Brock, who died in a crash four days after Irwin was killed by a stingray barb.

It comes a day ahead of the Crocodile Hunter star’s public memorial service that thousands of fans and VIPs are set to attend.

Brock was buried last Tuesday at a state funeral attended by hundreds of mourners in his hometown of Melbourne.

The premier of the state of New South Wales, Morris Iemma, says, “Both Peter Brock and Steve Irwin made a magnificent contribution to our country and we are all the poorer for their passing.

Steve Irwin was a much-loved ambassador for Australian wildlife and a passionate conservationist.”
