Fox has renewed sophomore drama Fringe for a third season, says the Hollywood Reporter.

The drama, from Warner Bros. TV and Bad Robot, has helped give Fox a foothold on ultra-competitive Thursday nights this season though suffered some ratings decline going into such a tough time period. Fringe has been averaging 7.6 million viewers in its tough Thursday slot and is ranked No. 50 in the 18-49 demographic.

J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are behind the show, which stars Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble and Lance Reddick.

The network’s President of Entertainment, Kevin Reilly, also said the network is bullish on Lie to Me and Human Target getting a renewal, though the network will probably want to see more weeks of ratings on both before making a decision.
