FX Renews ‘It’s Always Sunny,’ ‘Louie’ and ‘Wilfred’

Corey MatthewsFX is slowly seeping into the public conscious as the best network on television. At least, for comedy. At leaster, for twisted comedy. In all sincerity, FX’s original programming is beyond stellar, and the station recognizes this: FX is renewing It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Louie and Wilfred.

It’s Always Sunny’s seventh season begins this September; its teasers promise story arcs that include Mac’s new weight problem, Charlie’s intellectual incapability, Dennis’ psychotic self-love and Dee’s unrelenting ostracism. After this season, we will get to see two more: FX has added an eighth and ninth season of the raw ensemble comedy to its future roster.

Louie, which is batty to the point of brilliant (and the reverse), started off with an intriguing first season. So far, its second season has proven that Louis CK is an artistic legend. FX has ordered a third season of the series, which will likely delve further into the crackling mind of the put-upon standup comedian.

Finally, the network’s newcomer Wilfred starring Elijah Wood and Jason Gann has been renewed for a second season. Wilfred is still finding its feet (no hind-leg jokes), but does glimmer every so often with hints of grand promise.

FX, you’re the tops. Out from the dank trenches didst thou spring, to allot us some superb programming. Look forward to the future, people. It just got better.
