British comic Ricky Gervais is set to animate the TV market — he will voice a new cartoon series based on podcasts he created for a British newspaper.
The funnyman, who created and starred in the original Office TV show, is using animation to bring to life a series of Web broadcasts, which he produced with creative partner Stephen Merchant for Britain’s The Guardian newspaper.
The 13-show series, which will see Gervais, Merchant and friend Karl Pilkington lend their voices to the characters, will feature musings on a range of topics.
The comedy will premiere on HBO on Feb. 19.
