Girlfriend’s pregnancy changed actor Parker Young’s views on marriage

Arrow star Parker Young found himself more open to marriage after discovering his longtime girlfriend was pregnant.
The 29-year-old actor has been dating his high school sweetheart Stephanie, the creative director of the woman’s apparel company Satao’s Keeper, and in March (18), the couple announced it was expecting a baby girl.
Parker reveals he and Stephanie never stressed about getting married because they already had a strong relationship.
“She was 15 when I met her and I was 17, so this ring has been a long time coming,” the 29-year-old tells People magazine. “We had been together so long and it just worked, that I had really no intention of taking it that next step. I had the mentality that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it (sic).”
However, after Parker learned Stephanie was pregnant, he decided he wanted to pop the question during their gender reveal celebration.
“We finally got pregnant and we were doing the reveal, and there’s family in town and friends, and I was like, ‘I think this is a good time to do it’,” he says. “Two weeks before, I’m scrambling and I found a ring. We’re on the beach with the friends and family and we had smoke bombs and we didn’t know if it was going to be blue or pink. It shot pink smoke and I took a knee, and it was a pretty special moment for us.”
And he admits he is still adjusting to all the big changes that are coming.
“It’s still not really real for me yet,” he adds. “Fiancee, I do not like that word! It freaks me out. I’ll say wife or my girlfriend, baby mama, but fiancee, I think that should stay in France, wherever that came from. But she gets to feel the baby, so to her it’s a real thing. To me, my baby mama just looks like she had a couple burritos.”
