‘Glee’ Season 5 Casting Shakeup: Out With the Old, In With the New

Glee is getting rid of the old and making way for the new as it heads into Season 5. Original cast members Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike), and Dianna Agron (Quinn) will not be returning as regulars. They may return as occasional guess stars, however.

The news isn’t surprising, seeing as how four of the five graduated McKinley at the end of Season 3, and Morris’ character was accepted to MIT at the end of Season 4.

The new class at McKinley, on the other hand is moving up. Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder), and Alex Newell (Unique) have all been promoted to series regulars.

Season 5 of Glee begins Thursday, Sept. 19.
