The Modern Family Awards, no more! It was a tight race, but Best Actress in a TV Comedy winner Lena Dunham‘s series Girls took the globe of gold for Best TV Series, Comedy or Musical — beating Episodes, perennial favorite Modern Family, The Big Bang Theory, and Smash. Dunham, clearly moved, thanked the likes of Chad Lowe (WTF?) and her home network, HBO. “We’re cultists [and] we’re obsessed with you,” she said.

Dunham, who was joined on stage by castmates Adam Driver, Allison Williams, and Zosia Mamet (Jemima Kirke did not attend), as well as exec producer Judd Apatow, also got the chance to take a dig at her favorite target: herself. “It took a village to raise this very demented child,” she said. “I hope everyone who was involved feels thanked, every day.”

Season 2 of Girls premiered during the Globes broadcast, at 9pm EST.
