‘Goodfellas’ Writer and James Mangold Team Up for CBS Series

ALTNicholas Pileggi, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of GoodFellas (and non-Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Casino), is developing a Las Vegas-themed series for CBS, with director James Mangold (Walk the Line) attached to direct and executive produce.

Ralph Lamb will tell the true story of the man of the same name who went from a cowboy to being the most renowned sheriff in Vegas throughout the 1960s and ’70s. The series will be set during the same time period.

Series taking place in the ’60s and ’70s are, of course, fast becoming as big on TV nowadays as comic-book adaptations are on the big screen; call it the Mad Men effect. Too bad what we really wanted from Pileggi was the long-rumored GoodFellas series…
