We’re still trying to recover from last night’s season finale of Game of Thrones. Theories were confirmed, a ton of people met their makers, and winter finally came. Still, probably no other character on GoT had a bigger episode than the Queen Mother, Cersei Lannister. Cersei finally got her vengeance against the High Sparrow by using the Mad King’s stash of Wildfire to burn her enemies into oblivion. However, that decision cost her her son Tommen, which in turn fulfilled Maggy the Frog’s prophecy.

Though we all knew Cersei would seek her vengeance, Tommen’s suicide was definitely came as a surprise to most fans of GoT. So what does actress Lena Headey who plays Cersei think about all of this? She told Entertainment Weekly, “Yes, the prophecy finally comes true. Which is horrible. Yet at the same time, she has her greatest moment of triumph. She gets rid of all her enemies, that she knows of anyway. Then there’s that moment where she goes to see dead Tommen and she thinks, ‘Ah. Well. I’ll [take the crown].’ It’s so wrong.”

Despite her cold and calculating nature, we still won’t completely throw Cersei under the bus. She did secure Tommen in his apartment while the trial was occurring so that he was not a casualty in the wildfire blast. However, she did not count on her son’s fragile emotions taking over. Even with Tommen’s demise, Cersei got exactly what she wanted. Headey went on to say, “I think part of what happened to her, is a sense of ‘never again will anybody do anything to me that I don’t want to happen.’ This is the end of that.”

We’re going to be in for a very rough season 7 of Game of Thrones. Though Cersei has taken the crown, Daenerys, Tyrion, the Tyrells and the Martells are headed towards King’s Landing. Also, Jon Snow has just been crowned King of the North. We can’t see Cersei sitting on the Iron Throne for too long. And yet, we know that she’s not going to give up her seat without a fight. Did you see the look of fear Jamie gave her when he arrived to see her getting crowned?!
