Hit Man | 1982
Three contestants compete. A story (e.g., "The Making of the Wizard of Oz") is read and illustrated with photographs. When it is completed, questions based on the story are asked. Behind each player is a vertical row of six spaces. When a player gives a correct response an animated Hit Man moves up one of those spaces; an incorrect response eliminates a player from the next question.
The first two players to correctly answer six questions receive $300 and continue into round two; the third place player is eliminated. In Round 2, the two players are pitted against the previous champion. The champion receives seven Hit Men; the first-place winner four Hit Men, and the second -place winner three Hit Men. Another story is read and the champion must defeat the challengers while the challengers try to defeat the champion.
A series of questions based on the story are asked. If the champion answers correctly, one of the Challengers Hit Men is eliminated; if one of the challengers answers correctly, one of the champions Hit Men is eliminated. The first to eliminate the others' Hit Men is the winner.
