Synopsis

Television movie based on the novels of C.S. Forester about the exploits of British Naval Captain Horatio Hornblower at the beginning of the 19th century. Lieutenant Hornblower's ship, the "Indy," together with three other ships carrying French emigre troops and British Infantrymen, is sent to aid an attempted coup against the Republican Government by French Royalist counterrevolutionaries. Arriving in France, the forces disembark to launch several attacks in different locations. The enemy is fast approaching and it appears the secret plans must have fallen into enemy hands. Hornblower is caught up in a race against time to reach the "Indy" before it sails and before the bridge to the ship is blown up. A desperate stand occurs on the beach as the Republican troops surge across the river to overwhelm the allies, but at the last minute the "Indy" appears firing at the Republicans and forcing them to retreat.
